Seminars on Investment Opportunities in Automobile & Auto-Components Sectors in India Organized in Chongqing and Changchun

The Embassy of India organized two Seminars on Investment Opportunities in Automobile & Auto-Components Sectors in India in Chongqing and Changchun on 11th and 13th July 2017 respectively.

These events are a part of a series of industry and sector specific 'Make in India' events to be organized across China this year and were organized in partnership with the local Foreign Affairs Offices and China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Sub-Councils of both cities.

During these seminars, Counsellor (Economic) Mr. Prashant Lokhande noted the important role played by the Auto sector in India and highlighted the potential for collaboration between Indian and Chinese Companies in this sector. Mr. Vinnie Mehta, Director General of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) gave a detailed presentation on the strengths of India in the Automotive sector and the areas for future growth.

Mr. Vivek Sonny Abraham, Assistant Vice President, Automative Practice, Invest India briefed the audience on the investment opportunities in the Auto Sector in India under the Make in India programme.

Mr. Santosh Pai, Partner, Link Legal India Law Services gave a presentation introducing the legal and regulatory framework in India with a special focus on the Goods and Services Tax. Ms. Zhong Tiantian from Beiqi Foton Company Limited gave a presentation on the company's plans of expansion in India and their experience of working in India.

These presentations were followed by a Question and Answers session where representatives of Chinese companies raised queries on the taxation structure in India and the incentives offered to Chinese investors in India.

These seminars received an overwhelming response with nearly 180 representatives from around a hundred Chinese auto companies in Chongqing and Changchun attending the events.
