VISIT OF INDIAN YOUTH DELEGATION TO CHINA
[09-17 JUNE 2017]

A 200- member Indian Youth Delegation led by Shri Vijay Goel, Minister of State (IC), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is visiting China from 09-17th June 2017.

In the first leg of the visit, the delegation arrived in Beijing on 9th June. Shri Vijay Goel was welcomed by Mr. He Junke, President of All China Youth Federation (ACYF) at an official reception. Speaking at the occasion, Shri Vijay Goel said that the main purpose of this visit is to promote mutual understanding of values and culture amongst the youth and to develop better relations between India and China. Shri Vijay Goel emphasised that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has always insisted on considering the youth as agents of change. Shri Vijay Goel expressed hope that with the continued and persistent efforts of both countries the bilateral ties will further blossom and realise their full potential.

On 10th of June, the Embassy of India in Beijing hosted a reception for the visiting delegation. At the occasion, Shri Vijay Goel addressed the youngsters and encouraged them to play a greater role in the growth and development of India. Ambassador of India Shri Vijay Gokhale in his speech emphasised on the importance of people-to-people exchanges in strengthening India-China bilateral relationship. After the reception, Shri Vijay Goel met the Indian journalists based in Beijing.

During their stay in China from 09-17 June, the visiting youth delegation would also travel to Hefei,Changsha, Guangzhou and Shanghai. The 9 day visit would provide an opportunity to the youngsters to know and understand the developments made by China in the fields of education, culture, sports, urban planning, skill development, agriculture, industry and entrepreneurship. The delegation would also interact with the Chinese youth, academia, entrepreneurs and youth leaders during the course of the visit.

India and China have implemented the annual youth exchange programme since 2006-07. Last year, the Indian delegation had visited China from 17-25 June, traveling to Beijing, Nanjing, Xian, Guilin, Chengdu,Shanghai and Guangzhou.
