Press Release: India-China Business Seminar Organized in Guiyang

In a continuation of its efforts to boost Chinese investments in India, the Embassy of India organized an India China Business Seminar in Guiyang on 8th December 2017.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Mr. Amit Narang highlighted the remarkable rise in India’s ranking in the Ease of Doing Business report published by World Bank. Emphasizing the complementarity between Indian and Chinese companies in the economic arena, he encouraged all the companies present to visit India and invest in India.

This event saw senior level participation from the local government- with Vice President of Guizhou CPPCC Mr. Li Hanyu, Mayor of Guiyang City Mr. Chen Yan and Vice Mayor of Guiyang City Mr. Xu Qin attending the event and delivering remarks.

The event also saw sector-Specific presentations made on the Renewable Energy and Food processing sectors in India by Dr. Bujaya Kumar Behera from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and Shri Ruchin Gupta from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. Mr. Prem Kumar from the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development gave a presentation on investment opportunities in the state of Andhra Pradesh. There was a detailed presentation on the legal and regulatory framework in India by Mr. Zhang, Director, Ernst and Young Limited. Representatives from Chinese Companies like Huawei and Guiyang Aluminum and Magnesium Design and Research Institute Limited shared their experience of investing successfully in India.

These presentations was followed by a customized Question and Answers session where representatives of Chinese companies individually raised specific queries on the taxation structure in India and the incentives offered to Chinese investors in India, especially in the Renewable Energy Sector.

The seminar received an overwhelming response with more than 400 representatives from more than 280 Chinese companies attending the event.
