Activities to Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between India and China

            In order to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and China, Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi and President of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Xi Jinping had agreed during their Second Informal Summit on October 11-12, 2019 in Chennai to organise 70 celebratory activities in India and China. These activities will demonstrate the historic connect between the two civilizations as well as their growing bilateral relationship over the years. They will further deepen people-to-people exchanges between the two countries at all levels, including between their respective legislatures, businesses, academics,  cultural and youth organisations as well as the defence forces.

2.         The two sides will also engage in cooperative projects in studying ancient maritime links between India and China through (a) establishment of sister-state relations between Tamil Nadu and Fujian Province, (b) exploring the possibility of establishing an academy to study links between Tamil Nadu and Fujian Province, (c) conducting research on maritime links between India and China in view of our extensive contacts over the centuries and (d) a conference on a ship voyage that will trace the historic connect between the two civilizations.

3.         These activities will be organised during 2020-2021.

4.         The list of 70 activities which have been identified is as follows:

1. 

The two sides will carry out parliamentary exchanges.

2.

The two sides will hold opening ceremonies and receptions celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India.

3. 

The Chinese side will hold a China-India Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum in India.

4. 

The Chinese side will hold the 2nd China-India Drug Regulation Meeting in India and the Indian side will organize a special event on pharmaceuticals in China.

5. 

Both sides will hold business seminars and trade promotion for products, including agricultural products, in each other’s country.

6. 

The Chinese side will hold an International Xuanzang Forum in China, advancing Xuanzang-related studies.

7. 

The Chinese side will hold a China-India Media Seminar entitled "A journey of 70 Years: presenting the story of China-India relations in the age of media convergence" in India.

8. 

The Chinese side will hold a seminar on translations of Chinese and Indian classics and contemporary works and photo exhibition on China-India cultural exchanges during the New Delhi World Book Fair.

9. 

The Chinese side will hold a "Beautiful China” photo exhibition in India and the Indian side will hold an “Incredible India” photo exhibition in various cities of China and publish collection of the exhibits.

10. 

The Chinese side will hold a China-India Museum Forum in India.

11. 

The two sides will hold cultural events on special occasions such as New Year and other festivals.

12. 

The two sides will hold China-India Audio-Visual Weeks in both countries.

13. 

The Chinese side will invite an Indian Buddhist delegation to attend Celebrations for Bathing the Buddha Festival in China, and jointly pray for world peace and friendship between our two peoples.

14. 

The two sides will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the completion of an Indian-style Buddha Hall in the White Horse Temple in Luoyang.

15. 

The two sides will jointly flag-off the first batch of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in 2020 in India; jointly produce and broadcast a documentary dedicated to the Yatra; and hold a special Yatra for photographers from both countries and organise a photo exhibition in India.

16. 

The Chinese side will invite Indian celebrities to attend a Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar Forum in China.

17. 

The Chinese side will hold events commemorating the 110th birth anniversary of Dr. Dwarkanath Kotnis in China and India.

18. 

The two sides will hold activities related to martial arts exchanges.

19. 

The Indian side will hold activities related to Indian traditional sports in China.

20. 

The two sides will organize interactions between Indian and Chinese think-tanks.

21. 

The Chinese side will hold a seminar on urban search and rescue cooperation and the two sides will hold a joint post-earthquake search and rescue exercise in China.

22. 

The Chinese side will invite a women’s delegation from India to China.

23. 

The Chinese side will invite young Indian businesspersons and entrepreneurs to attend the China-India Youth Entrepreneurship Forum in China.

24. 

The two sides will organise a Cultural and Tourism Week in various provinces of China, including Hubei.

25. 

The Chinese side will organize a China-India music concert in India.

26. 

The Chinese side will send Chinese dance troupes to participate in Indian cultural and art festivals.

27. 

The two sides will exchange visits of former ambassadors, diplomats and experts to each other’s countries.

28. 

The Chinese side will organize an online short video contest for Chinese and Indian Youth.

29. 

The Chinese side will display publicity films on Chinese cities in India.

30. 

The Chinese side will organize activities related to traditional Chinese health exercise methods and Traditional Chinese Medicine service and training programme in India.

31. 

The Chinese side will conduct Chinese language competition in India and the Indian side will conduct Hindi language competition in China.

32. 

A Chinese Buddhist delegation will visit India and hold prayer activities in  Xuanzang Memorial Hall in Nalanda.

33. 

The two sides will organize respective tea promotion events in each other’s countries.

34. 

The Chinese side will organize a China-India Civilization Dialogue in India.

35. 

The Chinese side will conduct a composition competition for school/college students on the title "Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and India" in India.

36. 

The two sides will co-produce and telecast a documentary on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and China.

37. 

The Indian side will hold a photo exhibition on India-China relations since 1950 in various cities of China.

38. 

The two sides will jointly release commemorative stamps.

39. 

The Indian side will launch a Mobile App in Chinese on Indian Tourism in China.

40. 

Both sides will hold Film Weeks in each other’s country.

41. 

The Chinese side will hold a China-India Film Forum in India.

42. 

The Indian side will hold Indian classical and folk dance performances in various cities of China.

43. 

The Indian side will hold Indian contemporary dance performances in various cities of China.

44. 

Indian business delegation will participate in the 7th China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 2020.

45. 

Indian business delegations will participate in various well-known handicrafts/carpets/textile trade expos in China.

46. 

The Indian side will celebrate the International Day of Yoga 2020 in several cities of China.

47. 

The Chinese side will organise an International Taichi and Yoga Conference and a Symposium on Tiachi and Yoga Exchanges in China.

48. 

The two sides will conduct joint cultural performances at various border posts in China and India.

49. 

The Indian side will organize Tourism Road Shows in China.

50. 

The Indian side will organize Indian Fashion Shows in several cities of China.

51. 

The Indian side will organize a Sinology Conference in China.

52. 

The Indian side will organize IndianFood Festivals in various cities of China.

53. 

The two sides will encourage museums of both countries to hold exhibitions in each other’s countries.

54. 

The Indian side will conduct Indian classical music performances in various cities of China.

55. 

The Indian side will conduct Indian contemporary and choir performances in various cities of China.

56. 

The Indian side will organise a Seminar on Education in China with participation of senior leaders from leading universities of both sides.

57. 

The two sides will organise bilateral sports competitions.

58. 

The two sides will carry out school exchanges programme.

59. 

The Indian side will organize exchange programme for artists and craftsmen.

60. 

Indian delegation will participate at 3rd China International Import Expo (CllE) in Shanghai in 2020.

61. 

The Indian side will organize a Hackathon in China.

62. 

The two sides will hold Round-Tables on Indian and Chinese Traditional Medicine in Kunming and Kolkata.

63. 

The two sides will hold closing ceremonies of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India.

64. 

The two sides will jointly design a commemorative logo for the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India.

65. 

The two sides will jointly release commemorative noble metal coins.

66. 

The two sides will organize joint performance of military bands in Beijing.

67. 

The Indian side will send its naval ships to visit China.

68. 

A mid-level tri-service delegation of the Indian armed forces will visit China.

A delegation of Indian CEOs will visit China.

The two sides will conduct joint interviews in both countries.
