HIMACHAL CRAFT

Since time immemorial, the craftsmen from Himachal Pradesh have carved elaborate patterns on wood and metal, made baskets of all sizes and shapes, woven carpets and rugs, embroidered exquisite designs on silk and fine cotton, and painted intricately on various types of canvas. While they have evolved their own unique tradition of handicrafts, its origin is embedded in the Moghul Art. The journey of the Indian trajectory started from an Islamic entrepreneur who handed the art form down to a Kinnauri tribe of Himachal Pradesh which continues to pursue and promote it to this date.
