India - China Business Seminar Organized in Shenzhen

In a continuation of its efforts to boost Chinese investments in India, the Embassy of India, in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in Guangzhou, organized an Electronics sector specific India China Business Seminar in Shenzhen on 23rd March 2018.

2.Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and information technology (MEITY) Mr. Ajay Sawhney delivered the key note address- making a strong push for Chinese ecosystem of electronics moving to India and taking advantage of the Phased Manufacturing Programme introduced by the Government of India.

3.Speaking at the event, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Mr. Amit Narang emphasized how the leaders of India and China believe that when it comes to India China relations, 1 plus 1 equals 11. This highlights the complementarity between Indian and Chinese companies, taking advantage of which Chinese companies should invest in India.

4.This event saw senior level participation from the local industry- with President of Shenzhen CCPIT Mr. Ye Jiande, and Ms. Long Hong, Secretary General from Shenzhen Electronics industries Association attending the event and delivering remarks.

5.The event also saw sector-Specific presentation made on the Electronics sector in India by Mr. Sudhir Kumar Marwah, Director, Ministry of Electronics and information technology (MEITY) . There was a detailed presentation on the legal and regulatory framework in India by Ms. Vina C. Cheung from HSBC Limited. Ms. Fiona Li from Huawei Company Limited shared the company’s experience of investing successfully in India. Representatives from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Nagaland also participated in the event.

6.These presentations was followed by a Question and Answers session where representatives of Chinese companies raised specific queries on the taxation structure in India and the incentives offered to Chinese investors in India, especially in the Electronics Sector.

7.The seminar received an overwhelming response with around 400 representatives from more than 350 Chinese companies attending the event.
